On a cool Thursday night in New York City, a line of adoring fans wrapped around Union Square, waiting for their chance to see their idols perform live. As part of the 2012 CMJ Festival, three prominent Taiwanese bands travelled to the US to rock out in front of screaming fans. The bands were emo-punk band 831, pop-punk band Chemical Monkeys and hip-hop group Da Mouth. In a press conference before the show, all three bands expressed their excitement at representing Taiwan and performing in NYC for the first time. In front of hundreds of fans, the three bands did not disappoint.

First to hit the stage was 831. With its charismatic lead singer A-Pu, the band quickly electrified the stage and kicked off the evening with a bang. With sick basslines, insane guitar threads, and incredible vocals, 831 brought their A game to their adoring fans. The band also demonstrated its versatility by interchanging hardcore punk songs with slow acoustic songs. 831 excelled at bringing an interactive experience to the audience and effectively brought every fan to join in their performance.

Chemical Monkeys was next to take the stage. The Chemical Monkeys put on an equally impressive performance and showed New York why they are at the top of the Taiwanese indie scene. With a sound that is an unique blend of punk, alternative, and metal, the band kept the audience jumping with excitement.

Finally, a DJ appeared behind the turntables, followed by a rapper, a female vocalist, and a male vocalist. The venue erupted with excitement because they knew that Da Mouth has taken the stage. The group proceeded to turn the venue into a club with its performance. By performing songs from their debut to their newest release, Da Mouth demonstrated their ability to transcend pop, hip-hop, and electronic, resulting in a sound very deserving of two Golden Melodies. With their amazing dance moves and catchy songs, Da Mouth ended the performance that the fans will never forget.
