Music entrepreneur, music developer, and inventor. Not too many people can boast those credentials but one man, known to help invent the modern day protocol used to connect instruments to computers (also known as MIDI), has not only expanded his skills, but has now offered his knowledge to propel a musician's career to new heights. A renaissance man in the music business, David Kusek has done remarkable accomplishments within the music industry, but the entrepreneur has now developed an online course called "New Artist Model", in which he teaches up-and-coming musicians the ins-and-outs of music marketing, promotion, and business techniques that can be applied with instant results at a fraction of the cost of a college.
Though his background is in music and technology, Kusek helped create the online courses at Berklee University, the famous music college in Boston, Massachusetts. Among the newly added affiliates are the musician-oriented website builder Bandzoogle, the famous college concert and showcase CMJ, and the leading website to build press kits PressKit.to. Though each one of the affiliates has a specific role in an artist's career, Kusek is adamant in showing how to use the tools that are available to musicians all over the world. For instance, with Bandzoogle, Kusek instructs how to create a fully functioning website and ensures that is not as daunting as it seems. "It's all about building a killer website and figuring out outbound email and how you can offer a store that sells merchandise and tickets" he adds. With PressKit.to, he demonstrates the way to properly use a press kit and when to release it to maximize engagement with fans. As far as CMJ has to offer, he simply states that knowing whom your audience is, and where they go, musicians can maximize their efforts in marketing and promotion to get new fans and retain their established ones.
